Sundown Ranch has given me back My baby! I WOULD AND WILL recommend them to anyone who wants their child to have a fighting chance at a sober healthy, positive life. My daughter was either going to overdose, be trafficked, in jail or dead. She struggled with multiple Addiction's, Anger, Lieing, stealing, trauma, NO respect for herself or I and mental issues. It broke my heart. I had tried to get her help several times before but honestly she got worse. Clearly, the staff were just there for a paycheck. It was quite obvious they hired anyone willing to "babysit" or just be there. SUNDOWN RANCH was my last hope. Its several hours away and I had my reservation's if they could or would actually be able to help her? For about the first four days or so she was "testing the waters". The staff kept me informed and assured me she was safe and being taken care of. Already I was confident I made the right decision. EVERYONE! From the Director to the cooks (I hear they have good food) and everyone in between has made every effort to give my daughter and my family 100%. The staff TRULY care. They put their heart into giving my daughter the best opportunity and tools to change her life. They have come to KNOW her personally. Not just a paycheck. With hard, painful and dedicating work I have seen my daughter work to become the beautiful, loving, respectful, "clean", clear minded, spiritual young lady I knew she was and had prayed for. She still has work to do.(she is still there) I can't even begin to express my gratitude for what they have done for her with her AND my family. Weekly meetings, homework for me, supportive, educational, communication, understanding, truly compassionate, hard working even for after care and sobriety after discharge.I could go on and on. 😁 I know it's scary to leave your child somewhere and hope they get the help they need. It's more scary to know where they can end up if you don't get them help. I owe EVERYTHING to GOD and SUNDOWN RANCH. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Michele Miller

Thank God for this place. Right time, right place. Staff were awesome, structure was great, group therapies, one on one, doctors, all top notch caring people. Great communication. When it comes down to it, child must be ready, parents must be open, let the counselors do their job. Today my son is 90+ days sober and is a leader at sober living. Highly recommend Sundown Recovery. If your child is under age and using drugs, i would definitely consider sending them here while they are still in your control! My son was 24 and willing.

Best place ever! My daughter has been in and out of hospitals/rehab for the last 5 years, and this is the first place that saw through her "fake it to make it" bs and really worked on why she is so unhappy. I can't tell you the difference I have seen in my daughter! They really help the "whole" self and push the kids to go past their walls. The counselors are the best I have ever encountered. They can really tell who is BSing or not, and help them feel safe in telling what is really in their mind without felling like they are going to be judged. The ROPES program they have also is great for kids that do not have any confidence or trust anyone. My daughter started off slowly, but is now really working on her trust issues due to ROPES and the counselors follow up after ROPES. The parent weekends once a month are in my mind essential to helping the parents learn more about the diseases of addiction/psych problems, and trying to see it through your child's eyes. As a parent, you don't understand why your child just can't do the "right" thing. You have tried may different places, but always get the same result. You child is "good" for two to three weeks, but then reverts back to their "old" behavior. SR really works on helping the parent's have the tools to help your family live once your child comes home, instead of repeating the same habits from both of you that you have done over and over in the past that do not work. They also give you worksheets for you and your child to help change how you deal with your kids at home. You have to listen to how your child feels about a situation. Reflective Listening or Mirroring is VERY helpful. I am copying this from the document I got from SR that has been so helpful to me in trying to understand my daughter and our communication problems. We have both been using this formula, and it really helps in communication with your child instead of just getting upset and then repeating the same old patterns of being pissed because they do not do what you think they should do and yelling at them out of complete exasperation. ACTIVE LISTENING Active Listening, sometimes also called Reflective Listening or Mirroring. Prior to listening to someone, it is helpful to set up the scenario for success. This is done by finding out what the speaker would like: Would you like me to simply listen and say nothing? Would you like me to tell you what I am hearing? Would you like me to tell you what I think? If I am the one who wants to talk, then I ask myself what I want (the three questions above). I never assume I can always be there for what someone else wants, nor can someone else always be there for what I want. Maybe I can be ready to listen later maybe they can listen to me later. Am I in a place where I can pull this off? They may not be in a place where they can pull this off. A Key Point: I can listen and understand without needing to agree — I may not like what you say and I can still listen to understand. The point of Active Listening is not to change someone, rather to understand them. I know I’m successful when I understand, on the one hand, and am able to say what I want to say in the best way I know how (speaking the truth in love), on the other hand. I could not put the instructions for this on here, because I ran out of room. TRUST ME, this really works and so does Sundown Ranch for getting to the root of your child's problem and healing the whole child. I am so blessed/lucky I found them for me and my daughter!!!!!!!

Sundown Ranch is a truly amazing place. My daughter had been to 3 rehab centers before going to Sundown. Sundown taught her boundaries, helped her identify her strengths and weaknesses, and gave her the tools she needed to face life without drugs. The center has individual professional counseling, group counseling and medical doctors that tackle addiction from all angles. The faculty and staff are caring and work hard to create a safe environment. When I would visit my daughter on the weekend, she was always telling me how much she was growing as a person and her confidence in herself grew and grew. She enjoyed the healthy food choices, the activities, and the NA and spirituality options. I would recommend Sundown with no reservations.

I would like to start by saying I am glad I was able to make my own judgment and opinions about Sundown Ranch, and did not base it off of anyone else’s review! Sundown Ranch has some of the most loving and caring staff I have ever had to deal with. From the initial phone call to have my child admitted, the admission process was very emotional and I was treated with lots of words of encouragement. It is hard to admit your child has a problem, and even harder to admit your child to rehab, but when I left my child at Sundown I drove away with peace knowing they would take care of my kid. I have visited this facility many times and not one time have I ever had a issue with the staff, the care, the nursing, the food, or the program! During visitation at Sundown the staff is always so friendly and caring! The team counslors are very straight forward and do not keep you wondering what is going on!! I don’t care if my kid does not get to ride a horse at Sundown Ranch that is not what he is there for! I would recommend this place for treatment for anyone dealing with addiction!!!

Sundown Ranch is an exceptional dual-diagnosis program for adolescents. The staff is compassionate and dedicated to their jobs and approach treatment with heart, while also enforcing healthy boundaries and expectations for the clientele to reach their full potential. They also have a evidence-based family curriculum that helps the family be involved in the treatment process to work toward healing the entire family system. In addition, Sundown Ranch individualizes treatment to make sure the needs of the client are properly assessed and does not fall into the "cookie cutter" trap that does not lead to the best outcome. I highly recommend Sundown Ranch for troubled teens and young adults.

Sundown Ranch works very hard to create a safe environment for adolescents and young adults. They have a multi disciplinary approach, treating the patient medically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. There is also much focus on family members and teaching them how to process through their own emotions around their loved ones struggles. they have great education for family and patients on the disease of addiction and how to promote positive behaviors as a lifestyle change.

The reviews below with 1 or 2 stars and stating that it's a bad decision to send their kids there. I completely disagree. I went to this program and it was the best experience ever. They genuinely do care. And I was able to graduate high school due to this place! The reviews that mention drugs are brought in....THAT IS EVERY TREATMENT CENTER. This place is forever engraved in my memory. I highly suggest this place. I miss it so much.

During my son's stay at te ranch I made trips every other weekend and he was treated with respect, honesty, and I was provided with more support than I knew even existed. Dr. Callegan (is an amazing psychiatrist). Our son receive so intensive counseling. I will say 30 days is not long enough for most adults needing rehab. And it benefited my son to stay longer. My son still says it was a great place with amazing food. Good, good people! Tara Aistrup

I love Sundown Ranch! Not only did they work to help my son understand his addiction, they work with the family as well. The weekly family therapy sessions help you realize what you've done that was NOT BENEFICIAL to your child's addiction. The only person in control of your child not relapsing is themselves. You can't blame others for your child using. Ultimately, it's their choice. The only negative thing I have to say is my son never got to zip line or go horseback riding even though he earned it.
